Contribute to strengthening friendship between Vietnam and Korea

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) - In March 2016, the provincial Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association was established with nearly 200 members who are Vietnamese in Dong Nai who have lived, studied and worked in Korea as well as those who have been studying, researching and working with Korean partners in the province.
This is an organization that has made many positive contributions to the province's people-to-people diplomacy in recent times.

Demonstrating the role of people's foreign affairs
According to Chairman of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations Nguyen Thanh Tri, the activities of the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association in Dong Nai province have achieved many remarkable results, becoming a bridge in people-to-people exchange activities between Dong Nai people and diplomatic agencies, people's organizations and Korean businesses, contributing to the general economic - social - cultural development of the province.

First of all, the provincial Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association has expanded the scope of the association's activities, as well as established branches in agencies, units, localities and businesses. At the same time, strengthened the organization of the Association's activities to become more in-depth, practical, professional and effective. The Association also promotes propaganda and promotion of Dong Nai's image to friends and people of countries around the world in general and Korean people in particular. The organization also coordinates with departments, sectors and localities to carry out people-to-people diplomacy tasks...

Ever since 2016, the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Dong Nai province has raised nearly 300 million VND from Korean and Vietnamese businesses in the province to participate in the province's social security activities. Previously, in 2020, when the Covid-19 epidemic broke out, the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of the province donated anti-drop cloth masks to the Korean Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and foreign non-governmental organizations.

During the process of operation and development, the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Dong Nai province has closely followed the policies and orientations of people-to-people diplomacy work of the Party, Government, Union of Vietnam Friendship Organizations and Dong Nai province to carry out many meaningful events, contributing to strengthen the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

In 2022, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Republic of Korea, the Association has coordinated with agencies and units in the province to organize a series of welcoming activities with many outstanding events: trivia games with Gyoengnam Provincial Office (Korea), traditional costumes showcase of the two countries, performances of Vietnamese and Korean music, friendly exchange of Korean business culture with Dong Nai students...

Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Dong Nai province also actively establishes relationships with Korean people's organizations and businesses in Vietnam and Korea. The unit motivates the province's businesses to participate in the Association's activities and exchange and cooperate with Korean businesses towards establishing a business branch under the Association. Currently, Korean investors are leading in the number of projects with foreign direct investment and investment capital in the province with 426 projects, total capital of 7.2 billion USD. ​

Connecting to attract resources  
According to Vice President of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations Bui Thi Lieu, in recent times, Korean non-governmental organizations have been actively operating and contributing to the implementation of many projects and programs in the province. In particular, LS Group and COPION Organization/Korea implemented and handed over in Dong Nai 18 projects under the LS Dream School Project with a total value of over 11 billion VND.

Principal of Tap Phuoc Primary School (Long Phuoc commune, Long Thanh district) Nguyen Thi Hien said that at the end of 2022, Tap Phuoc primary school was supported with funding to build 5 new classrooms. Two new floors were built on the foundation of the old classrooms, with a total area of over 500m². The total construction cost is over 3.8 billion VND, of which LS Group sponsored through COPION/Korea Organization is 1.5 billion VND, the district budget is more than 2.3 billion VND. The completed project has made teaching and learning for teachers and students at this school much more effective.

In the process of further strengthening the bilateral friendship relation between Dong Nai province and Republic of Korea, the Association has set up and developed activities for peace, solidarity and friendship between the people of Dong Nai and Korean organizations and individuals. To date, the Association's size has grown to nearly 500 members.

Similar to other friendship associations of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Dong Nai province promotes the establishment of affiliated friendship branches. It should be noted that of the three established branches, the Vietnam - Korea Friendship Association of Posco VST Co., Ltd. (Nhon Trach district) established in 2018 was the first friendship branch in Dong Nai to be established at enterprises with foreign direct investment in the province. ​
