Accelerating the progress of highways and belt roads connecting the southeastern region

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) - Localities in the Southeastern Region have reached a consensus to continue closely coordinating efforts to expedite the construction of highways and belt roads, aiming to enhance regional connectivity and promote economic and social development.

Pushing the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project to completion as scheduled
The Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City, spanning over 76km, connects the localities of Long An, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, and Dong Nai. This transportation route not only plays a role in linking the internal areas of the Southeastern Region but also connects the Southeastern Region with the Southwest Region.

According to Mr. Tran Quang Lam, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, thanks to the close coordination among localities, the component projects of the main project have met their progress targets. "The component projects were collectively commenced in June 2023," Mr. Tran Quang Lam stated.

To date, after more than six months since the commencement, the component projects of the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City, which pass through the provinces of Long An, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City, have essentially met their progress targets.

To expedite the project's progress, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has requested localities to continue close coordination to accelerate land clearance work. Additionally, efforts are being made to address difficulties in meeting the demand for sand filling materials essential for project construction.

Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Vo Van Minh, stated that for the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project section within their jurisdiction, construction progress has essentially met the set targets. At present, the construction for three out of the four bidding packages has been implemented, while the remaining package is in the process of finalizing the contractor selection results. "The current pressing issue is the supply of sand filling materials, and localities need to coordinate to ensure the overall progress of the entire project," Mr. Vo Van Minh shared.

Regarding Dong Nai province, Mr. Le Quang Binh, Director of the Dong Nai Department of Transport, mentioned that the province has already handed over approximately 40% of the land area required for the construction of the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project within its jurisdiction. "Dong Nai province aims to fully hand over the project's land area by June 2024," Mr. Le Quang Binh revealed.
Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong, stated that in the coming time, localities will prioritize the resolution of obstacles and accelerate the progress of the Belt Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project. "The goal is to complete the project by 2025," Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong shared.
Improving the transportation network connecting to Long Thanh Airport

Apart from the aforementioned project, the ongoing implementation of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Phase 1 and the resumption of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project, both of which are road projects, are significant endeavors. These projects are expected to be completed by the year 2025.

Furthermore, within the planning framework, the Belt Road 4 - Ho Chi Minh City is also a crucial transportation route aimed at facilitating the connection to Long Thanh Airport. Spanning over 200 kilometers, the Belt Road 4 - Ho Chi Minh City traverses the provinces of Long An, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Regarding this particular project, localities have made commendable progress in completing the feasibility study reports. The provinces through which the road passes have reached a consensus to submit the project for deliberation to the Government and the National Assembly. Their objective is to seek special mechanisms, particularly financial support from the central budget, to facilitate the implementation of this project. As Vice Chairman Bui Xuan Cuong disclosed, the aim is to present the investment decision to the competent authorities in 2024, initiate and complete the project, and commence its operation by 2028. ​
