Accelerating Progress on Key Infrastructure Projects in the Southeast Region

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) - At the 4th Conference of the Southeast Region Coordinating Council held recently, one of the specific tasks that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Chairman of the Southeast Region Coordinating Council, instructed relevant agencies to implement was to expedite the region's key infrastructure projects.

Key Projects Gaining Momentum

On September 23, Bach Dang 2 Bridge, a key transportation infrastructure project connecting two localities in the Southeast Region, Dong Nai and Binh Duong, officially opened to traffic.

Bach Dang 2 Bridge, along with the nearly 3-km-long approach roads on both sides, spans the Dong Nai River and directly connects Vinh Cuu District (Dong Nai) with Tan Uyen City (Binh Duong). Once open to traffic, the bridge will facilitate the transport of goods, boosting the economic and social development of both localities. Additionally, it will complete the inter-provincial transportation system in the Southern Key Economic Region, helping to connect industrial zones in Tan Uyen City and Bac Tan Uyen District (Binh Duong) with Bien Hoa City, Vinh Cuu District, and Trang Bom District (Dong Nai).​

In addition to the Bach Dang 2 Bridge project, a series of other key infrastructure projects in the Southeast Region are also being pushed forward by localities and relevant agencies to be completed and put into use as soon as possible.

According to the Southeast Region Coordinating Council, the construction progress of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway project has made significant strides. Specifically, Phase 3 of the project, passing through Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province, is expected to open to technical traffic by April 30, 2025, ahead of schedule.

Meanwhile, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project has reached over 80% completion. The construction of Terminal 3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport has achieved 60% progress, with the rough construction of the passenger terminal completed 100%.

Similarly, Phase 1 of the Long Thanh Airport construction project is also exceeding progress expectations.

For Project Component 1A, the Tan Van - Nhon Trach section of Phase 1, part of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, Diep Bao Tuan, Deputy Director of the My Thuan Project Management Board, said the construction packages are progressing ahead of schedule. Most recently, the contractor successfully connected the first two spans of the Nhon Trach Bridge, the most critical component of the project. "For the Nhon Trach Bridge, the contractor is accelerating construction progress with the goal of shortening the timeline by four months and completing the package by April 30, 2025," Mr. Diep Bao Tuan noted.

Groundbreaking for Three Expressway Projects in 2025  

In addition to the ongoing transportation infrastructure projects, during the 4th Conference of the Southeast Region Coordinating Council, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also urged localities, including Binh Duong, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, and Ho Chi Minh City, to quickly complete the necessary procedures for the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, Chon Thanh - Gia Nghia Expressway, and Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway projects, with the goal of breaking ground by April 30, 2025.

Currently, the investment for the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway (Phase 1) under the public-private partnership model has been approved. Meanwhile, the Chon Thanh - Gia Nghia Expressway project has also been approved for investment by a resolution of the National Assembly.

At the same conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also tasked the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee with leading the proposal of special policies, under the authority of the National Assembly, for the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 project. Regarding this project, on September 18, the Government Office sent a document to the Minister of Planning and Investment and the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, relaying the opinions of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha regarding the submission of the pre-feasibility study report.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee are urged to promptly complete the investment preparation procedures in accordance with the law and submit them to the National Assembly at its 8th session, 15th National Assembly. The Minister of Planning and Investment has been assigned to represent the Government in submitting a document to the Secretary-General of the National Assembly to register the content for the National Assembly to decide on the investment policy for the project at the 8th session.
