“I am surprised at the technical creativeness contest of Dong Nai province”

            Ladies and gentlemen!

Today, I am very glad to be here to open the ceremony to sum up 15 years of the technical creativeness contest of Dong Nai province (1990-2005), to present awards of the 10th technical creativeness contest and government Program No.6.

First of all, on behalf of leaders of Ministry of Science and Technology, I would like to wish all of you health and success.

Recently, scientific and technological activities in Dong Nai province have been greatly improved in many fields. Many solutions and technical models having specific characteristics of Dong Nai province and high socioeconomic effects have been created.  With these achievements, Dong Nai becomes a typical example in term of applying science and technology into everyday life of local people. Although I have a lot of information about Dong Nai’s contest, I am still surprised at this year contest. Over 15 years, Dong Nai province has successfully hold 10 technical creativeness contests and 5 contests called Program No. 6 which mobilizes people from all walks of life to create solutions to their works and studies. These contests have attracted the participants of 788 solutions and 303 of which are awarded prizes of all types. Dong Nai province not only does well this movement at province level but also at nation level. It has nominated 33 solutions to compete in 6 technical creativeness contests at nation level and 8 of 33 solutions are awarded prizes. These figures show that Dong Nai authorities and people are very determined to create solutions and to apply science and technology into production and life so as to speed up the socioeconomic development of the province.

To prepare for technical creativeness contest in 2006, Dong Nai has constructed a website allowing people to online register to the contest. It is the first province nationwide to apply information technology in managing the contest.

I highly appreciate the achievements Dong Nai has gained. However, it does not correlate with the huge potential and capacities of Dong Nai province. I suggest that in coming times Dong Nai should develop this contest more widely, especially in the field of agriculture, and encourage foreign invested enterprises to take part in this contest. This will create driving forces to speed up the development of the province and make Dong Nai become a modern and industrial province in shorter time.

Finally, I wish all of you health and the 2006 technical creativeness contest will succeed.
