Conference on “the orientation and measures to develop bioengineering in Dongnai province”

The conference aims at sum up the course of bioengineering application in Dongnai province in recent years and figuring out orientation and measures for bioengineering application in the province for the period from 2010 to 2020.

Over the past few years, by using the outputs of bioengineering advances such as hybrid corn, cashew nut, durian, rambutan, mango, orchid, mushroom, cow, pig, or ship...etc, many farmers have successfully changed their animal and plant breed. As a result, quality of plants and animals and its competitiveness has constantly improved and gained a foothold in domestic market. However, many issues on developing bioengineering and orienting bioengineering application development the province become more and more urgent.

On discussing many research projects reported at the conference, scientists, researchers, managers and businesspersons in this field have suggested many practical, suitable measures on applying bioengineering in the province as well as made out master plans for developing bioengineering.

At the conference, 14 researches conducted by organizations, institutes, individuals, researchers and scientists in the country have been introduced. These researches cover on many facets of bioengineering such as: actual state of bioengineering application into agricultural production of Dongnai province and key programs to develop and apply bioengineering in agricultural production toward 2010; the development and application of bioengineering into healthcare sector; the possibility of applying bioengineering into agriculture of Dongnai province; Analyzing the possibility of developing bioengineering in Dongnai province.

Basing on achievements the conference has made, delegates and scientist have unanimously agreed with the plan to develop bioengineering in the province. The plan consists of following contents: develop bioengineering in order to use it for industrializing and modernizing agriculture, processing industry, public health service as well as protecting environment. Most of the delegates suggest building a bioengineering research and development center and establishing a network to deliver and consume bioengineering products. 

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bui Van Quyen, manager of local science and technology management division of Science and Technology Ministry, highly appreciates the achievements in bioengineering application as well as efforts of authorities of various levels in Dongnai province. He suggests that managers in this fields should collaborate with each other more in order to control and direct application of bioengineering into production  and work out plans for speeding up bioengineering application in the coming time.
