In 2011, nearly 54,000 hectares of corn are grown

In a report from Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in 2011 there have been nearly 54,000 hectares of maize being grown in the entire province, which soars by around 5,000 hectares compared with the year 2010. Estimated average yield is 6 tons/ha/crop.

Growing corn this year is rising by more 5,000 hectares, compared with 2010.

 

Due to steadily rising price, farmers are encouraged to expand lands for corn cultivation while food processing companies procure a large scale of corn. Besides, agricultural sector advises some lands impossible to grow rice to cultivate corn to resist drought.
