Web Portal - The new Japanese Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Watanabe Nobuhiro affirmed this statement at his working session with Chairman Cao Tien Dung, leaders of departments and branches of the Provincial People’s Committee on December 3.
Mr. Watanabe Nobuhiro said that in the process of transferring investment to Vietnam, Dong Nai has been and will be an attractive destination for Japanese investors. He also expressed his gratitude to the Dong Nai government for supporting and accompanying Japanese businesses in the past time, and he hoped that there will be continued attention and favorable conditions for Japanese businesses to operate locally as well as support Japanese SMEs in the process of moving their investment to Dong Nai in the near future. In the context of the complicated development of COVID-19 outbreak, the Consulate General proposed the province to create favorable conditions and pay attention to immigration procedures for Japanese business professionals and managers coming to Dong Nai to work.
At the working session, PPC Chairman also informed Mr. Watanabe Nobuhiro about Dong Nai's foreign investment attraction and production and business activities of Japanese enterprises. Accordingly, accumulated up to November 20, 2020, in Dong Nai, there are 1,529 foreign investment projects belonging to 45 countries and territories operating with a total investment capital of about USD 31.20 billion; in which Japan has 263 projects with total investment capital of 4.71 USD billion, ranking 3rd in terms of number of projects and total investment capital. Most of the past years, Japanese enterprises in Dong Nai have operated effectively.
Regarding international cooperation, Dong Nai has established and signed international cooperation with Japanese partners. Up to now, the two parties have signed 7 international agreements and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at provincial level, 5 international agreements and a memorandum of cooperation (MOU) at department level. Japan has also sponsored Dong Nai 5 non-refundable aid projects with total amount of over USD 414 thousand.
Chairman of the PPC Cao Tien Dung said that Dong Nai will continue to accompany and support FDI enterprises in particular and Japanese enterprises in general, creating favorable conditions for investors as well as to settle immigration procedures during the COVID-19.
