Attending the conference were also Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Son Hung, Nguyen Thi Hoang, and leaders from departments, agencies, and localities.

According to the Department of Planning and Investment, the industrial production situation in the province in April and the first four months showed more positive signs of recovery. Many businesses, especially those in the wood processing, electronics, paper, and garment industries, have seen increased production. Agricultural, forestry, and aquatic production in the province have developed steadily. The total state budget revenue for the first four months reached over 21.4 trillion dong, accounting for 39% of the central government's estimate and 38% of the provincial People's Council's estimate, an increase of 8% compared to the same period last year.

However, the disbursement rate of public investment capital in the province remains low. As of April 25th, the disbursed capital was over 1.7 trillion dong, reaching over 11% of the plan (nearly 14% according to the plan assigned by the Prime Minister).

Speaking at the conference, Acting Chairman Vo Tan Duc stated that in April and the first four months of the year, the economic and social situation in the province still faces some challenges. The implementation of certain public investment projects is still slower than the set targets. The compensation and land clearance work for key projects, especially the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway project, still has a significant workload.

Furthermore, the state management of land, minerals, and the environment in some localities is still inadequate. Unauthorized and illegal construction, especially on agricultural land, still occurs. Drought and water shortage have led to a decrease in cultivated areas compared to the planned targets. There have been outbreaks of hand, foot, and mouth disease, as well as food poisoning cases in Long Khanh City.

Recently, there has also been a situation where some officials are hesitant and procrastinating in fulfilling their duties, which limits the completion of tasks.

Vice Chairman Vo Tan Duc emphasized that there is still a lot of work remaining for the year 2024. Therefore, in the coming time, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee requests departments, agencies, and local authorities to make even greater efforts and prioritize the development of sectors that promote growth, speeding up the completion of key projects in the province. At the same time, they should effectively carry out the work of taking care of the people's livelihoods.

In particular, functional agencies should expedite the completion of investment procedures for projects to accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital. The investors should review the progress of capital disbursement until the end of April. Starting from May, the Provincial People's Committee will inspect and work with the investors on the task of disbursing public investment capital. The Department of Planning and Investment will propose launching a movement to accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital from now until the end of 2024.
