Dong Nai improves transportation infrastructure, paving the way for tourism development

(News Portal – Dong Nai) - In order to concretize and implement the objectives, tasks, and solutions stated in Resolution No. 04-NQ/TU dated December 30, 2021, of the Provincial Party Committee on developing tourism into an important service sector of the economy, the Provincial People's Committee has issued Plan No. 89/KH-UBND on April 20, 2022, which specifies the specific targets and breakthrough tasks related to the investment and development of tourism infrastructure, especially transportation routes.

The road leading to Thac Mai - Bau nuoc soi Tourist Area in Dinh Quan district has been upgraded to serve tourism development. 

During the implementation process, the Department of Transport has closely coordinated with other departments, agencies, and localities. At the same time, it has received attention from the central ministries and sectors, as well as the leadership, guidance, monitoring, and urging of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Council. Prioritizing the allocation of funds for investing in the development of transportation infrastructure (with a focus on connecting tourism areas and destinations) within the province has resulted in positive changes, specifically as follows:

From 2020 to 2025, 155 projects are being implemented in the province (including 08 expressway projects and ring roads) and (06 projects serving the investment and development of tourism infrastructure according to Plan 89/KH-UBND). These projects are breakthrough initiatives that create favorable conditions for tourism development, as well as the socio-economic development of the locality as a whole.

Expressway and ring road systems: The Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway has been completed and put into operation. The construction of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway and the Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City project has commenced. The construction of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway project has been resumed. Feasibility studies for the Dau Giay - Tan Phu and Tan Phu - Bao Loc expressways are being carried out to prepare for investor selection through the PPP format. Pre-feasibility studies for the Ring Road 4 - Ho Chi Minh City project and the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway from An Phu junction to the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway are also underway.

At the local level, several projects are being implemented and constructed, such as the upgrade of the DT.768 road section from Thu Bien Bridge to Vinh An town, the upgrade of the DT.763 road (connecting Dinh Quan district and Xuan Loc district), the expansion of Cao Cang road, the first section of Huong Lo 2 road, Vam Cai Sut bridge, Thong Nhat bridge and the connection road between the two bridges, Xuan Que road to Long Khanh, Song Nhan - Dau Giay road (remaining section), and more. Projects in preparation for investment include the upgrade and expansion of DT.769, DT.773, 770B roads, 25B and 25C roads (remaining sections), the port road in Nhon Trach district, Ring Road 1 and Ring Road 2 in Long Khanh city, Ring Road in Bien Hoa city, Trang Bom - Thanh Binh road, Trang Bom - Cay Gao road, and more.

In order to carry out the task of investing in the development of tourism infrastructure and prioritize the allocation of funds for transportation infrastructure connecting tourism areas and destinations, providing incentives to attract investors according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee in Plan No. 89/KH-UBND on April 20, 2022, the Department of Transport has proactively cooperated closely with other departments and localities in implementing projects, such as the upgrade of Huong Lo 7 road led by Vinh Cuu district People's Committee, the road along Tri An Lake, the upgrade and expansion of DT.774B road (Tra Lai - Tra Co), and more.

Regarding the waterway system, following the guidance of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Department of Transport, efforts have been made to coordinate with relevant departments and localities to review the planning of the inland port system. This integration is part of the overall provincial planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision toward 2050. The review also includes updating the inland ports serving tourism in the province.

Close coordination with departments and relevant agencies, in accordance with the directions of the Central Government, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee, has been instrumental in expediting the implementation of key national projects in the province. These projects include the Long Thanh International Airport, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Dau Giay - Lien Khuong expressways, as well as the Ring Roads 3 and 4. These infrastructure developments contribute to the completion of the transportation network, stimulating overall socio-economic development, particularly in the tourism sector.

Furthermore, the shared use of the Bien Hoa airport as a general aviation airport has been included in the approved master plan for the national airport and seaport system for the period 2021-2030, with a vision toward 2050. Currently, the Government has agreed to assign the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province as the competent authority to implement the Bien Hoa Airport project under the public-private partnership (PPP) model.

In terms of investment in transportation infrastructure development, with a focus on connectivity with tourism areas, the attention and leadership of the central ministries and agencies, as well as the guidance and supervision of the Provincial Party Committee and People's Council, have resulted in the allocation of priority funding for the development of transportation infrastructure in the province. Positive progress has been made, and when these projects are put into operation, they will create sustainable breakthroughs for the overall socio-economic development of the province, particularly in the tourism sector.

In the coming period, the Department of Transport will continue to leverage the achieved results and expedite the construction progress to timely put into operation the national key projects, as well as the province's and localities' priority projects, in accordance with the timelines specified in the resolutions of the National Assembly, the Provincial People's Council, and the directives of the Government and the Provincial People's Committee. These efforts will contribute to fostering sustainable and breakthrough development in the tourism industry of Dong Nai province. ​
