The “right-hand man” of the province in trade connectivity and business opportunities for Vietnamese – Japanese enterprises

(News Portal – Dong Nai) - Over the years, the Provincial Coordinating Team (PCT) has successfully fulfilled its mission of listening, understanding, and supporting businesses in establishing quality trade connections. The PCT has played a vital role in facilitating the growth of Vietnamese and Japanese businesses, boosting production, and meeting customer demands. As a result, hundreds of Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises in Dong Nai have been connected, explored opportunities, and subsequently developed contracts, memoranda of understanding, and cooperative agreements. These efforts have significantly contributed to the development of the supporting industry in Dong Nai.

Business Connectivity through Trade Conferences

From 2020 to 2023, regular trade conferences between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses have been organized four times. Through these conferences, numerous enterprises from Dong Nai and Japan have met, discussed, and signed memoranda of understanding, agreements, and cooperative contracts.

To date, nearly 270 Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises, as well as Vietnamese enterprises with Japanese partners, have been connected and have signed multiple contracts and memoranda of understanding. In 2023 alone, the conference witnessed the participation of 57 Japanese businesses and 40 Vietnamese businesses, resulting in 317 connections. Following the conference, 21 meetings were held, and quotations were exchanged. According to the assessment of the provincial People's Committee, the trade connectivity between Vietnamese and Japanese businesses is a crucial and necessary activity that accelerates the linkage, technology exchange, and development of the supporting industry in the province.

According to the PCT, their mission of connecting businesses to learn from and promote the development of the supporting industry has created an environment for Vietnamese entrepreneurs each year. Furthermore, in addition to facilitating trade connections to foster the development of the supporting industry, this is also an opportunity to enhance the position of Vietnamese enterprises through training programs in Japan sponsored by Meti-Kansai.

Development and enhancement of human resources quality

Japan ranks second in terms of investment projects in Dong Nai (273 projects) but ranks third in terms of invested capital at 5.2 billion USD, creating employment opportunities for more than 61,000 workers. In recent times, the PCT has actively promoted the development of the local industry, commerce, and services, especially the supporting industry in Dong Nai province.

According to Mr. Morishita Tsuyoshi, the Chief of the International Relations Division (Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade, and Industry - Japan), Vietnam, including Dong Nai, is at the forefront of attracting Japanese businesses for investment. Mr. Tsuyoshi highly appreciates the role of the PCT, particularly in connecting Japanese businesses with Dong Nai and facilitating trade by supplying products that Japanese businesses require. This demonstrates the effective operation of the PCT.

The PCT not only creates opportunities but also enhances the capacity of businesses. The PCT has been highly regarded by the Japanese government for its contribution to the development of the supporting industry in Vietnam and the restructuring of the supply chain for Japanese companies. Mr. Tsuyoshi believes that the PCT in Dong Nai is at the forefront in fulfilling its mission and improving its effectiveness.

Established in 2019, the Dong Nai PCT has proven to be effective and has been held in high regards by both the Vietnamese and Japanese governments. Mr. Morishita Tsuyoshi noted that in recent years, Meti-Kansai has implemented projects to develop and train Japanese-style supporting industry human resources in Vietnam. Meti-Kansai has also developed coordinating personnel networks to connect Vietnamese and Japanese businesses, as well as local universities.

Speaking at a working session with the Meti-Kansai delegation, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang highly appreciated Meti-Kansai's support in establishing the PCT in Dong Nai to promote the development of the supporting industry. Every year, the PCT maintains its activities by conducting surveys on businesses and facilitating trade connections between Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises, which have yielded significant results for businesses in both countries.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, in the past year, Dong Nai has further strengthened its connections and cooperation through the signing of memoranda of understanding with three Japanese partners: Ikeda Senshu Bank, Ernst & Young Vietnam Limited, and Long Duc Investment Limited Company. These agreements provide direct connection information for Vietnamese enterprises and explore the development of supporting industrial zones to assist small and medium-sized enterprises from Vietnam and Japan.
