Workers choose long-term commitment to businesses instead of seeking new opportunities

(News Portal – Dong Nai) - At this time, many businesses have a demand for labor recruitment, so workers often seek new job opportunities to increase their income. This year, according to businesses, the rate of labor turnover and job-hopping is very limited, and the majority of workers choose stable employment and long-term commitment to the company.

Workers choose to be committed and dedicated to businesses

Hoping for stable employment

Ms. Le Thi Huong, who works in a wood manufacturing company in Tam Phuoc Industrial Park (Bien Hoa City), said that in the past, her job was stable and her average monthly income was over 9 million VND. Since May 2023, the company's production has faced difficulties, and although she was not among those who were laid off, her income has significantly decreased. However, she still remains at the company, hoping that production and business will improve.

In 2023, due to a decrease in orders, the income of the company was affected, but Ms. Le Thi Huyen (from Nghe An province) was determined to return to Dong Nai after the Lunar New Year holiday and stay committed to the company. Ms. Huyen has over 9 years of experience in the garment industry. At the beginning of the year, many businesses were recruiting labor in the garment sector, offering attractive salaries and skill requirements. However, for her, having stable employment is still the top priority at the moment.

Ms. Huyen revealed: "The harder the company's situation, the more we must share, because finding a good working environment and policies that are guaranteed is not easy. Moreover, I am older now, so it is difficult to find another job that is suitable for my health, skills, and working hours. Therefore, even though my income has decreased, the company's benefits still remain my priority."

According to businesses, in previous years, businesses always had to consider production options due to workers quitting after the Lunar New Year, which affected the availability of resources and the progress of orders. Some businesses had to recruit workers for 2-3 months to supplement the workforce. However, this year, thanks to good salaries, bonuses, and welfare benefits, businesses have been able to retain skilled workers. Moreover, after a difficult year, many workers have lost their jobs and faced unemployment, so the majority of workers appreciate their current employment. This helps the company maintain a stable workforce to serve production orders throughout the year.

A representative from the Vietnam Precision Industrial Joint Stock Company (Trang Bom district) stated that the majority of workers at the company are highly skilled labor, requiring training periods of 5 months to 1 year. An encouraging sign is that after the Lunar New Year, 100% of workers returned to work, with no cases of labor turnover or job-hopping. To retain skilled workers, the company not only focuses on employment but also pays attention to the workers' quality of life. Currently, long-term workers at the company all have stable incomes. The company is recruiting an additional 100 workers to meet the deadline for orders.

Enterprises are implementing various employee retention policies

Ms. Le Thi Tam, a labor recruiter at Tam Thinh Phat Limited Company (a company specializing in labor supply for businesses, located in An Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City), stated that although there are positive signals in labor recruitment demand, the search for labor at this time is not as intense as in previous years. Every day, the company only manages to recruit about 5 workers. The majority are young workers from the central provinces, looking for their first career oportunities, and those with skills and experience are very limited.

According to Ms. Tam, currently, workers are looking for stable employment and long-term commitment to companies rather than seeking temporary jobs as before. Especially since the wage gap among companies in the same industry is no longer significant. Many companies have implemented policies to take care of and encourage employees to work for the long term, providing good welfare benefits. Therefore, workers choose to stay committed to a company for the long term instead of seeking new opportunities.

Regarding labor recruitment needs, the Dong Nai Employment Service Center reported that as of the end of February, nearly 190 companies had registered to recruit labor at the center, with a demand for over 16,000 workers. It is expected that in the first quarter of 2024, the demand for labor recruitment in the province will exceed 20,000 workers. Although companies have advertised job openings in various forms, the labor supply is not sufficient. This is a significant challenge for companies facing labor shortages at present.

Tran Thi Thuy Tram, Director of the Dong Nai Employment Service Center, stated that compared to the same period in 2023, the labor recruitment needs of companies have doubled at this time. Many companies in the textile, footwear, and dyeing industries have recovered and have a high demand for hiring ordinary workers in large numbers. The center will organize a job fair on March 11th to connect companies and workers, especially those who are currently unemployed.

According to the Provincial Confederation of Labor, the situation of workers returning to work after the Lunar New Year is quite satisfactory. As a result, companies have ensured production progress from the beginning of the year. A positive sign is that the production and business activities of companies are experiencing positive changes. Some companies have even received production orders until the second quarter of 2024, providing stable employment for workers. Stable income and employment are motivations for workers to stay committed and contribute more to the development of companies.
