Seminar on Promoting Digital Transformation in Dong Nai's Agricultural Sector 2024

The program aims to support localities, especially farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises within the province, in implementing digital transformation and accelerating the process in the agricultural sector.

In recent times, the province's agricultural sector has focused on implementing various digital transformation programs such as upgrading information technology infrastructure and building a database for the agricultural sector. Notably, since 2020, the sector has launched two projects: farm management through Te-food software and a project for meat product traceability. The province has also organized consultations with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on implementing the agricultural digital data platform and the agricultural product traceability platform; collaborated with the Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics Center to apply the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development's agricultural product traceability system in the province. Đồng Nai is also continuing to develop IT infrastructure investment projects and application software to facilitate digital transformation.

Setting the digital transformation goals for the agricultural sector by 2025, with an orientation towards 2030, the province has outlined five specific groups of solutions and tasks to realize these goals.

Firstly, in developing a digital transformation platform, focus on activities to raise awareness about digital transformation among officials, civil servants, and farmers. Create institutional frameworks and organizational structures to provide legal corridors for implementation. Develop digital transformation human resources. Develop technical infrastructure and ensure information security.

Secondly, build and share a common database for agriculture and rural development. Establish specialized databases in fields such as forestry, fisheries, livestock and veterinary, crop production, and plant protection.

Thirdly, develop the digital agricultural economy by applying digital technology in restructuring, enhancing the management and operational capabilities of production entities. Establish a product traceability system. Apply digital technology in production and product linkages to automate production, business processes, quality control, and manage and monitor the origin and supply chain of agricultural products.

Fourthly, develop digital farmers and digital rural areas by building and implementing an agricultural digital data platform where the state plays a leading role, agricultural cooperatives and enterprises play a core role, and farmers actively participate in collecting, standardizing, opening data, and providing open data for agricultural production and product consumption. Implement digital transformation in new rural areas and smart rural areas through piloting three communes towards smart new rural areas.

Finally, create several digital transformation models in agricultural production to develop high-tech agriculture, smart agriculture, precision agriculture, and increase the proportion of digital agriculture in the economy. These models include forest fire monitoring, brackish water shrimp farming, information dissemination and training, transfer of technical advancements, and service consulting on digital platforms; applying IoT in crop production with remote monitoring systems for environmental conditions integrated with automatic irrigation and fertilization controlled via smartphones.

On this occasion, the seminar provided additional information on state policies for developing cooperative groups, cooperatives, and cooperative unions, particularly the new points of the amended Cooperative Law of 2023.
