(News Portal – Dong Nai) - To date, the Dong Nai Nature-Culture Reserve has received applications from 12 investors for developing tourism zones and attractions based on the project approved by the Provincial People's Committee. The Reserve has established an evaluation council to review and select 11 out of 12 qualified investors. Progress reports have been submitted to the Provincial People's Committee, and further documentation is being compiled to update the investment attraction status.
Provincial leaders present letters of appreciation to investors interested in the Reserve's tourism projects.
The Appeal of Forest-Lake Eco-Tourism
Dong Nai is inviting investment into numerous forest and lake eco-tourism projects. Among them, the eco-tourism, resort, and recreation projects under the 2021-2030 tourism development plan of the Dong Nai Nature-Culture Reserve have garnered significant interest from investors.
In addition to its strategic location in the province's tourism development strategy, the Reserve includes Tri An Lake, which is part of the national tourism development plan. This highlights the Reserve's immense value in terms of nature, culture, and unique biodiversity, serving as a "precious resource" for building local tourism products.
Mr. Hoang Tuyen, Deputy Director of Vietnam Investment JSC (Ho Chi Minh City), said that his company, which has experience in tourism projects across the country, is currently collaborating with partners on resort tourism models in Nha Trang. Upon learning about Dong Nai's call for investment into tourism projects under the Reserve's plan, his company is applying for approval to lease forest land to implement a tourism project in the Ba Hao Lake area.
According to the plan, his company aims to develop a destination that combines a resort with medicinal herb gardens. He noted that the Ba Hao area offers significant value and serves as a central location for accessing other destinations. During the implementation process, the company has received support from relevant authorities in identifying and selecting sites. The company plans to build two resort areas meeting 3-star and 5-star standards, targeting all domestic tourists.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, a representative of Archi Co., Ltd. (Ho Chi Minh City), expressed the company's desire to invest in a resort tourism project near Tri An Lake. The project would feature lightweight, environmentally friendly materials for resorts meeting 4-star and 5-star standards. Visitors would have the opportunity to relax, experience "forest bathing," and enjoy natural surroundings. The focus would be on attracting high-end and international tourists.
He emphasized the Reserve's natural values, which are highly appealing to international visitors. The company's application has fulfilled all requirements, and they are eager for provincial approval to commence the project. Nam also highlighted the need for clear communication from the Reserve management regarding investment opportunities and locations to attract investors. He also noted that the local population's inherent aptitude for tourism services could reduce the need to recruit workers from other areas.
Ready for Tourism Development
According to the tourism development plan, the Reserve encompasses 51 eco-tourism development sites. The proposed types of tourism include: eco-tourism and nature exploration; resort tourism; recreational activities on Tri An Lake; community tourism linked to local product offerings; other compatible tourism and service types within the area.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Phuong, Chairman of the Vinh Cuu District People's Committee, emphasized the Reserve's dual role in protecting drinking water sources for millions of residents across southeastern provinces while leveraging its values for tourism development. The district aims to transform Tri An Lake into a national-level tourism area as outlined in the Government's planning and implement the 2021-2030 eco-tourism, resort, and recreation development plan approved by the Provincial People's Committee. This represents an opportunity to stimulate tourism, boost trade and services, and contribute to the region's socio-economic development.
Mr. Phuong stressed that the district will enhance state management, coordinate with the Reserve to ensure security and order, and manage tourism product development. Concurrently, the district will propose infrastructure projects, encourage recreational and service activities, and establish accommodations around the Reserve to meet tourist demand, increase income, and create jobs for local residents.
Ms. Dinh Thi Lan Huong, Deputy Director of the Reserve, stated that forest protection and development have long been core responsibilities of the Reserve, supported by local communities. Preserving the forest enables Dong Nai to benefit from opportunities such as forest environmental services and carbon credits, which are significant potentials.
The tourism development plan, however, remains a challenging task. Huong emphasized that the Reserve will carefully select committed and capable investors who can enhance the ecological, historical, and cultural values of the area, generating income for both the Reserve and local residents.
