Strengthening forces at COVID-19 patient treatment facilities

Dong Nai Province has established the Temporary Hospital No.1 (Thong Nhat District Medical Center), Temporary Hospital No.2 (Campus 3 of Lac Hong University), Temporary Hospital No.3 (Ho Chi Minh City Open University located at Long Binh Tan Ward, Bien Hoa City) to serve as a treatment facility for COVID-19 patients. At the same time, setting up 100 beds at Dong Nai General Hospital, and Thong Nhat General Hospital to treat the severe COVID-19 patients. Currently, the Health sector is considering to use Le Quy Don College (Bien Hoa City) as another temporary hospital for the COVID-19 patients treatment.

COVID-19 patient treatment at Dong Nai Lung Disease Hospital

On July 15, Thong Nhat General Hospital, Cam My District Medical Center, Xuan Loc District Medical Center sent a delegation of doctors and nurses to the Temporary Hospital No.3 in order to perform the treatment for COVID-19 patients.

The Director of the Dong Nai Department of Health has just signed a decision to assign his Deputy Le Quang Trung to directly manage the treatment of COVID-19 patients at Dong Nai Lung Disease Hospital. Mr. Le Quang Trung is in charge of leading, directing and coordinating the hospital's human resources to perform the treatment for COVID-19 patients at the Provincial Lung Disease Hospital from 2 PM on July 16, 2021 until a new decision is made.

Accordingly, Dong Nai Lung Disease Hospital has been transformed its function from a hospital specializing in treating tuberculosis and lung disease to a hospital specializing in treating COVID-19 patients from April 2020. During the first 03 waves of COVID-19 epidemic, Dong Nai Lung Disease Hospital was the only hospital in the province performing the treatment for COVID-19 patients. There have been 32 COVID-19 patients who have been cured.

However, from the beginning of the 4th wave of Covid-19 epidemic, the number of COVID-19 patients has increased rapidly putting great pressure on the staffs, doctors and nurses of the Lung Disease Hospital. During the treatment of COVID-19 patients, a number of medical staffs from the Lung Disease Hospital and Thong Nhat General Hospital (those came to support the treatment at the Lung Disease Hospital) were infected with COVID-19 which and greatly affect the hospital's human resources.
