In addition to efforts from individual enterprises, Dong Nai is actively advancing technological transformation to enhance the local industrial sector's competitiveness, meeting the demands of sustainable development.
Emphasis on Technology and New Product Investment
In May 2024, Fleming Vietnam International Co., Ltd. inaugurated its third factory at Amata Industrial Park (Bien Hoa City). The new facility spans 1.3 hectares and features a modern design, including a 21-meter-high workshop with insulated roofing and walls, along with an industrial ventilation and fan system. The factory also boasts advanced machinery and a workspace integrated with surrounding green spaces, making it a standout example.
According to the leadership of Fleming Vietnam International Co., Ltd., the company is implementing advanced technologies and processes to reduce input costs, save energy usage, and lower emissions. Through green production practices, their environmentally friendly products have received high customer praise and increased sales.
In the coming period, Dong Nai plans to focus on developing three key product groups: aerospace components, automation equipment, and information technology devices. These key product groups will be supported by a modern industrial ecosystem, with five core subsectors serving as the foundation: machinery and precision engineering; electrical and electronics; transportation vehicles; chemicals; and food production and processing.
At the end of 2024, Hung Vuong Construction Co., Ltd. (Vinh Cuu District) inaugurated a factory producing prestressed steel-reinforced concrete water pipes using advanced technology from the United States. The factory represents a 300-billion-VND investment, covering 2 hectares within the company's premises.
According to General Director Dao Van Hac, Hung Vuong has achieved significant success in the building materials sector, particularly in producing precast concrete components for drainage systems. By investing in the latest technologies, the company has transitioned from manual production to modern industrial manufacturing, significantly increasing production capacity. From producing drainage pipes, the company has taken a major step forward by investing in a factory for prestressed steel-reinforced concrete water pipes, employing the most advanced technology currently available in Vietnam. Hung Vuong aims to expand the distribution of its new products nationwide at competitive prices, with continued support from local authorities, the construction industry, and partners.
Advancing Industrial Transformation to Enhance Competitiveness
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Rector of Lac Hong University, emphasized that developing modern industries, transforming technology, and investing in new technologies are urgent requirements, especially to achieve sustainable development goals. The reality is that transforming existing industrial parks toward high-tech and supporting product manufacturing remains challenging. In Dong Nai, industrial parks already have more than 85% of their total area occupied. Achieving transformation requires a suitable roadmap and strong determination from local authorities.
Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh also noted that transitioning to high-tech production is a pressing issue for every enterprise. Innovation activities must be viewed as a driving force for businesses to upgrade products or create new ones, enhancing competitiveness. These aspects should be incorporated into the criteria for investment registration, extension, dissolution, and support for businesses by the government and local authorities.
Sharing the same perspective, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, acknowledged that Dong Nai's industrial sector has made progress in adopting new technologies. However, many businesses still use outdated technologies, affecting productivity and product quality. Moreover, investments in research and development remain limited, resulting in few high-value-added products.
Dong Nai has identified technological transformation as a crucial factor for businesses to improve productivity, reduce costs, and establish a foundation for sustainable, environmentally friendly development. The province seeks input from experts and enterprises on solutions to enhance the competitiveness of the industrial sector and attract new investment projects and fields. This will raise awareness and promote technological transformation across industries and investment sectors, contributing to improving the competitiveness of Dong Nai's industrial sector.
