Significant Contributions to Enhancing Vietnam's Global Standing
The conference reviewed the report summarizing the economic diplomacy achievements of 2024 and highlighted priorities for 2025. Among nearly 60 external activities conducted by Viet Nam's top leaders in 2024, economic diplomacy played a crucial role. Over 170 cooperation agreements were signed during high-level events. Viet Nam's foreign relations have been elevated and upgraded, rejuvenating traditional growth drivers through strengthened cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and labor with major markets. Simultaneously, Viet Nam has tapped into new markets, pushing the total import-export turnover to an estimated USD 780–800 billion, with exports ranking among the top 30 globally.
In Dong Nai, the province has consistently focused on expanding international cooperation with foreign partners, regions, and territories worldwide. To date, Dong Nai has established and signed 41 provincial-level memoranda of understanding and international cooperation agreements with 12 countries and has renewed 14 provincial-level international cooperation agreements with foreign partners and regions. In 2024 alone, Dong Nai signed 5 provincial-level international agreements and 4 departmental-level agreements. The province also organized meetings with foreign-invested enterprises in the region and held various domestic and international investment and trade promotion conferences. In 2024, Dong Nai recorded exports exceeding USD 23.4 billion, an 8.5% increase, and imports of approximately USD 16.7 billion, a 7.2% rise compared to the previous year.

Economic Diplomacy Must Strive for Practical and High-Impact Solutions
Delivering his directive remarks at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that in 2024, Viet Nam achieved all 15 of its key targets, notably maintaining growth over 7%. However, he noted that Viet Nam's growth potential remains substantial and that the results achieved so far have not fully met expectations.
To achieve a GDP growth rate of at least 8% and pave the way for entering a new era while elevating Viet Nam's position globally, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to closely monitor, accurately assess the situation, and propose appropriate solutions. He called for breakthroughs to accelerate progress and attract greater international investment into Viet Nam. The Prime Minister urged for advancements in technology transfer, breakthroughs in market economy institutions, a focus on training high-quality human resources, attracting talent, fostering innovation, and adopting smart management practices while learning from valuable international experiences.
Economic diplomacy in 2025 must deliver tangible and effective results under the principle of “3 R's": results that are clear, products that are clear, and contributions that are clear to economic and social development. This requires close collaboration between ministries, sectors, diplomatic agencies, and localities; sincere and trustworthy partnerships with global partners; and engagement with major international corporations, especially in technology. These efforts aim to build trust, respect, and national appeal, all of which serve Viet Nam's development goals.
