(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On December 3, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a government delegation to inspect the progress and work with units involved in the Long Thanh International Airport project. The delegation included Deputy Prime Ministers Tran Hong Ha and Ho Duc Phoc, along with leaders from various central ministries and agencies. From Dong Nai Province, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc participated in the delegation.

During the meeting, the Airports Corporation of Viet Nam (ACV) reported that for Component Project 3, the land has been largely handed over by Dong Nai Province. Contractor joint ventures have mobilized nearly 7,000 personnel and close to 3,000 pieces of equipment to implement the project's contract packages. Specifically, for Package 5.10 - construction and installation of equipment for the passenger terminal, the contractor joint venture has completed all reinforced concrete columns, beams for floors 1, 2, 3, and 4, as well as the roof supports. They are currently continuing with finishing work, constructing the jet bridge, and assembling the steel roof structure according to the contract schedule. It is expected that the entire construction will be completed before December 2025, alongside the finishing work, equipment installation, system connection, and trial operation starting in early 2026, with an aim to complete everything before September 2026.

For Package 4.6 - the airfield works, ACV is determined to direct contractors to complete and technically exploit the runway before April 30, 2025, which is three months ahead of the contract schedule.
Regarding the construction of two connecting traffic routes, the contractor joint ventures are also simultaneously implementing various construction tasks, and the current construction progress is being ensured.

Chairman of the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc reported at the meeting that the locality is focusing on investing in the transportation infrastructure system connecting to Long Thanh Airport. Additionally, the province is working on urban planning for Long Thanh Airport to maximize the development advantages of the project.
In concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh evaluated that the project implementation progress has achieved many positive results. A significant volume of work has been completed overall, and the project's structure is becoming increasingly clear; many contract packages are ahead of schedule, especially Components 2 and 3.

In the coming time, with the spirit of “right people, specific tasks, clear timelines, responsibilities, products," time, intellect, and timely decisiveness are key factors for success. The Prime Minister requested that all tasks be completed before December 31, 2025, and Long Thanh Airport be put into operation before February 28, 2026, to regain lost progress without any further delays.
Regarding the implementation of the second runway construction for Long Thanh Airport, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh instructed relevant units to complete investment procedures in December 2024 to commence construction in January 2025 and to prepare immediately for the investment in Phase 2 of the Long Thanh Airport Project.
