Setting Up Multiple Mobile Applications to Support Traffic Management

(News Portal – Dong Nai) - In recent years, with the widespread use of smartphones, numerous traffic support applications have been developed and deployed by government agencies and businesses. This has significantly altered the habits of the public and improved the ability of authorities to manage and control activities in the traffic sector.

Convenience with Mobile Apps

Currently, to monitor and understand the traffic situation on several major routes and key intersections in Dong Nai, many people frequently check real-time traffic conditions using Google Maps or the Dong Nai-S app's camera features. By utilizing this data, residents can assess traffic situations on various roads and subsequently choose suitable travel routes.

According to the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, the public can view real-time traffic conditions or evaluate traffic status through map-monitoring apps and mobile camera viewing apps. Based on the parameters and images displayed on these apps, residents can proactively select appropriate routes, contributing to the reduction of traffic congestion.

In addition to widely used apps, traffic police nationwide are utilizing the specialized VNeID app on their mobile devices to check the status of driver's licenses and vehicle registration when managing traffic control. Additionally, they can electronically temporarily confiscate the licenses of violators.

Notably, on National Highway 1 alone, in 2024, the national traffic police are implementing the VNeCSGT app to manage traffic order across routes. According to the Traffic Police Department of the Ministry of Public Security, the adoption of this technology helps avoid redundancy in vehicle checks and facilitates smoother traffic participation. By using the VNeCSGT app, traffic police teams can quickly determine whether a vehicle has been inspected previously, including the timing and location of the check, to decide whether to stop the vehicle for control (except in cases of direct violations).

Facilitating Management Units

According to traffic authorities' evaluations, the usage of the aforementioned apps by both the public and enforcement agencies saves time and effort. This is especially crucial in the current digital transformation phase, as authorities actively apply scientific and technical advancements to enhance service quality for residents.

The Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) has noted that controlling traffic through the VNeID and VNeCSGT apps helps detect fake documents and evasive behaviors by violators who have had their vehicle documents temporarily confiscated but still present those integrated into the VNeID app. Moreover, through continuous updates and integration of information, traffic police nationwide can easily retrieve violation histories and vehicle registration statuses, thereby improving supervision and handling of violations.

Specifically, in Dong Nai, during the National Day holiday from August 31 to September 3, 2024, traffic police applied the VNeCSGT app for patrol and control along National Highway 1. As a result, over 1,400 vehicles were stopped for inspection, with 493 documented violations; fines were estimated at 438 million VND, 49 driver's licenses were revoked, and 69 vehicles were temporarily confiscated.

In the near future, aiming for more effective operation of these apps, the Department of Transport and the Provincial Police have continuously issued guiding documents and assigned officials to directly assist residents in using and operating the apps. Authorities hope that the public will gradually become accustomed to navigating the electronic environment, thus saving time and enhancing transparency in traffic-related procedures and activities.

Additionally, some residents have suggested that authorities should compile a list of essential apps that assist the public in traffic participation or services in the transport sector. These lists should be regularly published before holidays, Tet, and long weekends and displayed on large panels at major intersections for residents to research and install.
