According to the consulting unit, the proposed route for the underground fuel pipeline (Jet A-1) from the Go Dau port storage depot to Long Thanh Airport spans approximately 22 km, consisting of 9 sections. The pipeline system will include two parallel steel pipes, spaced 0.5 meters apart, buried at a depth of 2 meters below the current ground level.
At the meeting, representatives from Long Thanh District People's Committee and relevant departments noted that several sections of the proposed pipeline route still do not align with current land use plans and construction zoning.
In his concluding remarks, Chairman Vo Tan Duc emphasized that Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport is expected to be operational by September 2026. Therefore, constructing the underground fuel supply pipeline to support airport operations is critically urgent. Currently, when comparing the proposed pipeline construction plan with Long Thanh District's land use plan through 2030, it appears that certain sections of the route pass through areas designated for rural residential land and commercial service land. Consequently, Long Thanh District People's Committee and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment were instructed to guide the consulting unit and the project proposer, PetroVietnam Oil Corporation (PVOil), in adjusting the land use plan to ensure alignment with the various planning requirements. This adjustment will facilitate land acquisition and site clearance processes. The adjustments must be completed promptly to be presented to the Provincial People's Council for approval at the end-of-year session in 2024.
The Department of Construction will lead and collaborate with Long Thanh District authorities to guide the consulting unit in reviewing and adjusting the pipeline construction plan to ensure it aligns with the master plans for the communes of Long An, Tan Hiep, Long Phuoc, Phuoc Thai, and the detailed industrial zoning for Go Dau Industrial Park.
Once the route plan is adjusted to align with all relevant zoning plans, the Department of Construction will consolidate and advise the Provincial People's Committee on soliciting feedback from the Ministry of Transport and the Airports Corporation of Viet Nam regarding the project's execution. All related tasks must be completed by the end of November 2024.
