The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the province's leadership and relevant departments to environmentally friendly construction materials, specifically GFRP (Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer) rebar (marketed under the brand KEco Bar) and GFRP Rockbolt, developed by KCMT Group. Mr. Daeryun Kim, Head of International Business at KCMT Group, explained that GFRP rebar and Rockbolt are innovative alternatives to traditional steel rebar, offering potential applications in various architectural and civil engineering structures. By adopting advanced materials like KCMT's GFRP rebar and Rockbolt, Vietnam's construction industry could achieve significant improvements and advancements.
The GFRP rebar offers several advantages: it weighs only a quarter of standard steel rebar, has more than twice the durability (lasting around 100 years), and is highly resistant to corrosion. Additionally, its carbon emissions during production are only a quarter of those generated by traditional steel, and it allows for faster construction due to its superior workability.
In addition to providing information about the quality of GFRP rebar, KCMT Group expressed interest in donating steel materials for a construction project in the province, which the Provincial People's Committee would introduce, to showcase the product's advantages.
Speaking at the meeting, Chairman Vo Tan Duc emphasized that Dong Nai highly values the positive results seen from the application of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) materials in Viet Nam, especially in coastal, island, and infrastructure projects. Dong Nai is eager to learn from South Korea's experience in developing and applying GFRP, as well as to explore opportunities for cooperation with KCMT Group in establishing standards and technical regulations that align with Vietnam's conditions, particularly those specific to Dong Nai.

Dong Nai is a dynamic province with rapid economic growth, hosting numerous large industrial zones and national key projects currently underway. This rapid development has led to the significant growth of the construction sector in the province. As a result, Dong Nai is keen on adopting new technologies and advanced, modern, and environmentally friendly construction materials that contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with Viet Nam's commitment to sustainable development made at international conferences.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed hope that this meeting would serve as the starting point for cooperation between Dong Nai Province and KCMT Group.
