(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On the afternoon of October 17, Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang chaired a meeting with a working delegation from the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation was led by Mr. Christopher Scholl, Deputy Consul General.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hoang informed the delegation on the socio-economic situation and foreign investment attraction in Dong Nai. The province, part of the Southern Key Economic Region, is located about 30 km from Ho Chi Minh City and 40 km from the Thi Vai - Cai Mep port cluster in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, with many future developmental advantages, particularly the Long Thanh International Airport, which is expected to complete its first phase by early 2026. Additionally, the transport network and highways are gradually being completed in line with the progress of the Long Thanh International Airport project.
Dong Nai is one of Viet Nam's leading industrial provinces, with 34 industrial parks established, of which 31 are operational, one is in the stage of land recovery and infrastructure investment, and two have been approved for investment policy and are in the planning stage. The province has attracted investment from 46 countries and territories with a total of 1,679 projects and registered capital of USD 34.99 billion. Among them, there are 12 projects from German enterprises with a total investment of over USD 273 million. Regarding international cooperation, Dong Nai has signed 41 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and re-signed 14 provincial-level international cooperation agreements with 12 countries worldwide.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged and discussed issues of mutual interest. Deputy Consul General Christopher Scholl expressed his gratitude to Dong Nai's government for supporting German investors and businesses in the province, especially in streamlining administrative procedures for investment licensing. He also expressed interest in learning more about Dong Nai's infrastructure, transportation, renewable energy, and the development of a high-quality workforce to meet the demands of businesses. In 2025, both sides hope to engage in more practical cooperation activities to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany.
Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Hoang appreciated the interest from the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City towards Dong Nai province. She expressed her hope that the German Consulate General would continue to serve as an effective bridge, introducing German partners and localities to explore investment opportunities, while also promoting education, training, and people-to-people exchanges in Dong Nai in the near future.
