(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On September 28, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, in collaboration with Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM), held a signing ceremony for a cooperation agreement between VNU-HCM and the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province.
Leaders of VNUHCM and the Dong Nai People's Committee signed the cooperation agreement.
Attendees included Mr. Vu Hai Quan, Member of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of VNUHCM, along with other delegates from VNUHCM; Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee; Mrs. Hoang Thi Bich Hang, Vice Chairwoman of the Dong Nai People's Council; Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Vu Dinh Trung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee, as well as leaders from various provincial departments and agencies.
The agreement outlines cooperation in five key areas: training, education, and human resource development; scientific research and socio-economic development; collaboration in digital transformation, digital economy development, technology transfer, intellectual property, and innovation; cooperation in managing dormitory buildings funded by Dong Nai at VNUHCM; and cooperation in industrial productivity.
The goal of the partnership is to leverage the potential in infrastructure, human resources, and experience of both parties to serve the socio-economic development and integration goals of Dong Nai Province from 2024 to 2029. It also aligns with VNUHCM's mission in education, scientific research, and community service.
During the signing ceremony, participants discussed and proposed various areas of cooperation in education and scientific research. These include logistics, information technology, high-tech agriculture, human resources for Long Thành International Airport, and tourism development.
According to Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Chairman of the Dong Nai People's Committee, the province recently held a successful conference to announce and promote the implementation of its development plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Therefore, the signing of this cooperation agreement represents a strategic and necessary step. Based on this partnership, both parties are committed to applying VNUHCM's scientific knowledge in combination with Dong Nai's strengths and potential to develop and execute research programs that support the implementation of the provincial development plan for 2021-2030 and the vision to 2050. This will ensure that the set goals are achieved efficiently and within the shortest possible time.
Chairman Vo Tan Duc discussed with VNUHCM leaders some of the topics that were deliberated by both sides during the event.
To achieve these objectives, the Chairman requested that, following the signing ceremony, localities and provincial departments closely cooperate with VNUHCM to utilize the potential and advantages of both parties. This will help guide the development of sectors and localities, addressing the urgent challenges Dong Nai faces in implementing its development plan for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, laying the foundation for the province's sustainable development.
VNUHCM Chairman Vu Hai Quan noted that Dong Nai ranks second only to Ho Chi Minh City in terms of the number of students attending VNUHCM. This underscores Dong Nai's strong potential for high-quality human resources and highlights the important role VNUHCM plays in training personnel for the province.
Chairman Vu Hai Quan expressed hope that the contents of the signed cooperation agreement would be implemented soon. He also requested that Dong Nai provide favorable conditions in terms of land to allow VNUHCM to establish practical laboratories in the province. Additionally, VNUHCM aims to participate in training and developing strategic-level officials and those in public administration and leadership skills. In terms of science and technology, he proposed developing joint research programs between VNUHCM and universities in Dong Nai to support the province's growth.
