(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On August 14, a delegation from the province led by Central Party Committee member, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh, paid a visit and worked with the authorities of Shanghai, China.

Joining the delegation were Deputy Director of the Central Propaganda Department Duong Minh Tuan; members of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee including Head of the Provincial Mass Mobilization Committee Cao Tien Dung, Head of the Provincial Internal Affairs Committee Tran Trung Nhan, Secretary of Long Khanh City Party Committee Dang Minh Nguyet, Secretary of Long Thanh District Party Committee Duong Minh Dung, and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Phi, along with leaders from the Provincial Party Committee Office, various departments, and localities.
Mr. Zhu Zhisong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Secretary of the CPC Pudong New Area Committee, and Director of the Administrative Committee of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone received the delegation.
Top 10 Most Developed Localities Nationwide
At the meeting, Central Party Committee member, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee expressed his delight at visiting and working with the authorities of Shanghai. He also extended his gratitude to the Shanghai city leaders for their warm reception.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee provided a brief introduction about Dong Nai province. This province, located in the Southern Key Economic Region, spans over 5,800 square kilometers with a population of 3.2 million. The province comprises 11 administrative units, including 2 cities and 9 districts. Dong Nai holds a strategic geographical position as the gateway connecting the Southeast region with various economic zones of Viet Nam and extending internationally. It is situated 30km from Ho Chi Minh City (Viet Nam's economic hub) and 40km from the deep-water port cluster Thi Vai - Cai Mep (a gateway port connecting international maritime trade for the southern provinces of Viet Nam).
Over the past 30 years, the province has consistently ranked among the top 10 localities nationwide in revenue collection, regularly achieving assigned targets. The province's economic growth rate has always been high and stable, averaging 8% annually.
Currently, the province has established 33 industrial zones with a total land area of over 10,500 hectares and is preparing an additional land fund of about 8,000 hectares to attract further investment. It is projected that by 2026, the operation of Long Thanh International Airport's phase 1 will significantly drive economic development in the locality and the entire Southern Key Economic Region, particularly in the sectors of industry, trade services, and logistics.
According to the Secretary, there are currently 46 countries and territories investing in the province with approximately 1,700 projects and a total registered capital of 34.6 billion USD. Among these, there are 192 projects with a total capital of over 2 billion USD from Chinese investors, ranking fourth in terms of the number of projects and fifth in total foreign investment capital.
Building the Dong Nai – Shanghai Relationship
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee assessed that Shanghai is a major and prominent city in China in terms of urban planning, airport, and seaport development, as well as being a renowned tourist destination. Therefore, the provincial leaders hope that through this visit, they will learn valuable experiences to serve the socio-economic development in Dong Nai. The visit also aims to open up opportunities for cooperation in new fields between Dong Nai province and Shanghai city, especially regarding the city's policies on reform and opening, urban management, attracting financial and trade investment, and innovation in high technology and science.
The presence of the Dong Nai provincial delegation in Shanghai continues to affirm the goodwill and importance placed on friendly and cooperative relations with Chinese localities. The Secretary also hopes that both sides will enhance exchanges at all levels, effectively utilize cooperation mechanisms, and promote economic-trade, investment, tourism cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. The province always encourages large enterprises with advanced, modern, and green production technologies from China to invest.
Mr. Zhu Zhisong, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, Secretary of the CPC Pudong New Area Committee, and Director of the Administrative Committee of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, introduced the outstanding achievements of Shanghai city in economy, citizen life, and tourism development, as well as the conditions for continued development include seaports, airports, international free trade zones, and tourist areas.
Mr. Zhu Zhisong also reiterated that China and Viet Nam share a comprehensive strategic relationship, with landscapes and rivers forming a continuous stretch. At the end of 2023, General Secretary and President Xi Jinping made a visit to Viet Nam, once again affirming the strong relationship between the two sides and elevating it to new heights.
According to Mr. Zhu Zhisong, Shanghai city currently has cooperative relations in various fields with Ho Chi Minh City. For Dong Nai province, the Secretary's visit this time lays the foundation for building and developing new relationships based on the bilateral relations between the two countries.
