Dong Nai has prepared land, infrastructure, and labor to elevate its development space. This is a crucial premise for the province to continue welcoming a new wave of investment from many countries and territories worldwide. A dynamic, friendly image of Dong Nai, proactively preparing the necessary conditions to welcome foreign capital flows, contributes to economic growth.

Selective Investment Attraction

Recently, many leading global corporations and enterprises in high technology and semiconductor manufacturing have been exploring and planning to invest in production facilities in Dong Nai. Consulates General of several countries in Ho Chi Minh City have also informed that many major corporations are eager to invest in the locality.

Specifically, during a meeting with Dong Nai provincial leaders at the end of May, Susan Burns, the U.S. Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, stated that many U.S. semiconductor manufacturing companies wish to implement projects in Dong Nai. U.S. businesses also want to collaborate on renewable energy projects, human resource training, and promoting educational development.

Dong Nai provincial leaders have proactively approached and invited major corporations with high technology to invest in the province. At the same time, they attract small and medium enterprises in supporting industries, clean technology, and non-labor-intensive sectors to increase the localization rate of products. Recently, Dong Nai successfully organized investment promotion events in South Korea and Japan, the two leading countries in terms of projects and investment capital in Dong Nai. At these meetings, many businesses expressed interest and desire to invest in Dong Nai in fields such as semiconductor industry, AI, commercial services, logistics, and technical infrastructure.

According to Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairwoman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, the fields of interest by businesses from the two countries align with the province's investment attraction orientation. Dong Nai hopes that large corporations and companies from Japan and South Korea will invest in high-tech industries and commercial services. The province will prioritize the semiconductor industry, chip production, and artificial intelligence. These sectors require relatively little land yet provide high added value and significant tax contributions.

Nguyen Tri Phuong, Head of Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority, informed that since the beginning of 2024, the locality has attracted two semiconductor projects. The authority has advised the provincial People's Committee to consider, and even reject, projects that attract 500 or more workers. In the coming years, industry will continue to be Dong Nai's strength, but the province faces difficulties as the occupancy rate of 31 operational industrial zones has reached over 85%. Dong Nai hopes that the procedures to build additional industrial zones will soon be approved by ministries and agencies.

Increasing Infrastructure Investment, Enhancing Human Resources

According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Linh, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, local functional sectors must strive to enhance competitiveness and create attractiveness for industrial zones. Dong Nai must change its appearance and upgrade industrial zones, or it will lose its leading position in industrial development.

Dong Nai province also prioritizes allocating capital for regional connectivity transport projects, rural and urban transportation to serve local socio-economic development. The province is coordinating with the central government and neighboring localities to accelerate key project progress and prepare resources to capitalize on advantages once these projects are operational.

The total mobilized capital for infrastructure development in the province over more than half the term is about VND 223 trillion. Districts and cities within the province have mobilized resources and promoted socialized investment to upgrade many transportation routes, significantly changing the rural landscape.

Mr. Vo Tan Duc, Acting Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee, stated that the province focuses on promoting two areas: transportation infrastructure investment and improving human resource quality. Additionally, Dong Nai effectively implements commitments in bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, expedites the processing of investment and business procedures, strengthens the deployment of electronic public administrative services for investors, regularly organizes periodic meetings, encounters, and dialogues to promptly address business feedback and remove obstacles.

With these commitments and efforts to improve the investment environment, capital flows from other countries and domestic investments will continue to pour into Dong Nai. The province has significant potential and prospects for investment attraction.
