By mid-June 2022, the
construction contractors of the Long Thanh Airport Project phase 1 have
completed excavation and backfilling of 11.5 million m3 of land.
Construction ahead of schedule
According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the
investor of component 3 project - construction of essential works in Long Thanh
Airport, after more than 4 months of construction, leveling and drainage and
finished 50 days of development. Emulation activities on the construction site,
Long Thanh Airport Project phase 1 has had a positive change.
Mr. Vu The Phiet, General
Director of ACV, said that in the past time, the construction on the site was
affected by erratic weather conditions, the rainy season came earlier than the previous years. However, ACV, Long Thanh Airport
Project Management Board and construction units have actively developed
reasonable and flexible construction plans and methods in different conditions.
Along with that, the contractors also mobilized maximum personnel, equipment,
and had a scientific construction plan, so the project was built ahead of
schedule compared to the plan.
Especially, for the ground leveling and drainage package, one of
the important packages of the project, by mid-June-2022, the contractors have
completed the total volume of excavation and backfilling to about 11.5 million
m3 of land. Complete leveling of the entire station core area in May 2022, one
month ahead of schedule.
The passenger terminal category is one of the particularly
important items, having a large scale and playing a decisive role in the
overall progress of the project. This is also the item with the most
complicated technical requirements, the longest design and construction time. For
this item, currently, Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board is
coordinating with consulting units to complete 90% design documents. In June,
technical design documents for 90% of passenger terminals will be officially
submitted to specialized agencies for appraisal. Therefore, in June and early
July 2022, the appraisal of passenger terminal design documents is the most
urgent task that ACV and related units will make efforts to implement.
For the passenger terminal pile foundation package, according to
ACV, at present, the contractors have completed the test pile construction and
completed the testing and load testing. At the end of May, ACV also directed
the contractors to officially start the mass construction of piles 1 week
earlier than planned.
Follow up, closely monitor the
progress
Although many positive results have been achieved in
construction work, however, the construction of items of Long Thanh Airport
Project phase 1 in the near future requires additional solutions to compensate
for progress, ensure the completion of the bidding packages, especially the
ground leveling and drainage packages.
Speaking at the meeting of the Government's Steering Committee
to implement the Long Thanh Airport Project on June 14, Minister Nguyen Van The
of Transport said that the leveling item is very important, and it is the key issue.
"If the ground is not completed, other stages will be affected,"
emphasized Minister Nguyen Van The.
For the approval of the design of the Long Thanh airport passenger
terminal in phase 1, Minister Nguyen Van The proposed to establish an
interdisciplinary team consisting of representatives of the Ministry of
Transport, the Ministry of Construction, and consultants to discuss directly, and resolved promptly.
Also at the meeting on June 14, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van
Thanh asked relevant units to continue promoting their momentum and progress in
3 shifts; closely follow and monitor the progress of the Gantt chart of construction. Especially closely monitor the quality of works, labor safety,
ensure compliance with regulations, standards and legal regulations.
"There must be a construction plan adapted to the rainy season, absolutely
no stopping or interruption of construction on the construction site" -
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh emphasized.
For the leveling work, Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh
requested that in the next 15 months, 110 million m3 of land must be leveled.
"If the contractor is lacking, it should be supplemented, if it is slow,
it should be replaced immediately," Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh
directed.
