On June 27, 2008, Do Thi Ngoc Phuong – Deputy Manager of OPCC (Office for Protection and Care for Children) had a working session with Dongnai DOLISA (Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Welfares) on children issue, advantages and disadvantages when the Office moved from CPFC (Committee for Population, Family and Children) to DOLISA.

Deputy Director of DOLISA Huynh Thi Nghia reported the protection and care for children

According to DOLISA, protection and care for children in the first half of the year are conveniently provided and a large number of activities to help children over the province have been organized. Some of the activities are caring for difficult children (by giving gifts, granting scholarships, providing free treatment, performing free heart operations and so on), issuing medical check-up and treatment cards for children under six years olds, supporting them when they suffer from accidents and injuries, helping street children and so on

Deputy Manager of OPCC noted DOLISA’s suggestions

However, care for juvenile health and marriages are limited because a large number of working people have immigrated to the province. Particularly, workers living in rooms for rent lead unstable lives so their children do not benefit from all children’s rights. The popularization is not good so many children still suffer from injuries.

DOLISA suggested that OPCC should establish an Agency for Protection and Care for Children because Dongnai has a large population and a great number of immigrants. DOLISA also proposed that MOLISA should promulgate a circular which provide guidelines on protection and care for children etc
