16 Companies and 85 Wise Method-based Solutions for Improving Working Conditions

Above are the achievements that have been obtained in Wise-based working condition improvement program (Wise is a the name of a method) since early 2011 in Dong Nai.

This is a project conducted by the International Labor Organization (ILO) and Dong Nai Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Labor Union. The project is funded by Japan.

It is known that Dong Nai, Thanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen, and Thua Thien Hue – four regions are chosen for the project to be carried out with the aim of “Giving assistance to effectively implementing the national program on labor safety and sanitation working to strengthen labor safety and sanitation in Vietnam, RAS/08/07M/JPN”.

Since 2009, 116 companies in the province have participated in giving training to instructors according to the program.

In the first half of 2011, 55 companies registered for the training course and  sixteen others registered for working condition improvement methods.

Companies have primarily made improvements in transportation, warehouse arrangements, workplace design, power safety, working environment, chemical management, fringe benefits, and work organization.

To assess the efficiency of the project and share experience with companies applying Wise to successfully improving their working conditions, ILO representative cooperated with Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs in holding a workshop on the morning of August 31, which attracted the representatives of 22 companies.
