(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On the morning of May 31, the People's Committee of Cam My District solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the district's establishment, with the participation of approximately 550 local delegates and guests.

The ceremony was attended by Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc, Mr. Cao Van Quang, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Mr. Cao Tien Dung, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, Mr. Dao Van Phuoc, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission Huynh Thanh Binh, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Hoang Thi Bich Hang, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang, along with representatives of local leaders, departments, and sectors in the province.
Over the course of 20 years of development, the production value of the district's economic sectors has grown significantly; social, national defense, and security aspects have also achieved notable results. Particularly, infrastructure has been invested in, developed, and expanded; annual budget revenues have met and exceeded the province's targets. The total production value of the district's economic sectors has increased by an average of 14.4% annually, from over 1.9 trillion VND in 2004 to nearly 28.4 trillion VND in 2023.
Notably, achievements in agriculture and new rural development have always been highlights in Cam My District's economic development accomplishments. During the period from 2004 to 2024, the production value of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors achieved an average growth rate of 7.27%, ranking among the top growth rates in the entire province. In 2023, the production value of the agriculture, forestry, and fishery sectors reached nearly 5.96 trillion VND, a significant increase compared to 2004. The production value of the industrial and construction sectors in 2023 reached over 8.2 trillion VND, a 51.5-fold increase compared to 2004. The district has also achieved impressive results in new rural development. To date, all 12 communes in the district have achieved advanced new rural standards, 4 communes have met model new rural standards, and there are 13 model residential areas. The district has also met the advanced new rural district criteria.
The district has established 7 specialized cultivation areas covering over 4,370 hectares, formed 31 production and consumption linkage chains, developed 4 organic production models, and had 19 products recognized as OCOP (One Commune One Product). Among these, 3 products have a 4-star rating and 16 products have a 3-star rating, with value increases of 10-20% in revenue for the producers. The value of harvested products per hectare of cultivated land reaches 178.5 million VND, an increase of 133.9 million compared to 2004. Cultural-sports activities, education-training, healthcare, care for policy beneficiaries, tribute work, and improving the quality of life for the people have seen positive changes. The lives of the people have gradually improved, political security and social order have been maintained and stabilized, and the political system at all levels has been consolidated and strengthened. Party building, the political system, and administrative reforms have been increasingly consolidated and enhanced.
Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc congratulated the Party Committee, authorities, military, and people of Cam My District for their breakthrough developments and impressive achievements in various fields, especially in new rural development. Notably, the average per capita income increased from 12.2 million VND in 2004 to over 83 million VND in 2023. Cam My District is entering a new phase of development with many favorable conditions such as proximity to Long Thanh Airport, the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, and the Dau Giay-Phan Thiet Expressway. To build and develop Cam My District, the Party Committee and the people of the district need to deeply understand the strategic role, favorable position, potential, advantages, challenges, and valuable lessons learned over the past 20 years. It is necessary to accelerate stable and sustainable economic growth, create strong, high-quality, and competitive economic transformations, effectively exploit investment resources for development, and continue to maintain and further promote the results achieved in new rural development. It is also essential to boost the economic structure transformation towards industrialization, applying scientific and technical advancements in production to create high value-added products.
