(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On March 28, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Vo Tan Duc, along with representatives of provincial departments and agencies, welcomed the delegation from the Embassy of Laos in Vietnam and the Consulate General of Laos in Ho Chi Minh City. The delegation was led by Comrade Khamphao Eunthavanh, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam.

Acting Chairman Vo Tan Duc provided the Ambassador with information about the socio-economic situation of the province. Specifically, there are 33 industrial parks established in Dong Nai Province, covering a total area of over 10,500 hectares, attracting investors from 45 countries and territories with a total of 1,595 projects and a capital of 34.14 billion USD. The province also has the Long Thanh International Airport, which is expected to begin operation in Phase 1 from 2026, serving as a driving force for development not only for the local area but also for the entire Southern key economic region.

The People's Committee of Dong Nai province has established and signed 38 Memorandums of Understanding and provincial-level international cooperation agreements for the first time, as well as re-signed 13 Memorandums of Understanding and international cooperation agreements with localities and foreign partners. Particularly, Dong Nai Province has established a friendly cooperation relationship with Champasak Province since 2011. Today, the relationship between the two localities has been increasingly fruitful, with many vibrant activities such as exchange visits at all levels and awarding scholarships to Lao students. Currently, there are 42 students from Champasak Province in Dong Nai Province who have been granted scholarships and are studying at universities and colleges in the province. The province has 9 bilateral friendship associations and 01 multilateral friendship association, including the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association established in March 2015, with 04 branch associations and 42 local associations with over 1,700 members.

Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also informed the Ambassador about the upcoming visit of a delegation led by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council to Champasak Province to visit and celebrate the traditional Bunpimay New Year and provide gifts, scheduled from March 31 to April 5, 2024. At the same time, on April 10, 2024, Dong Nai Province will organize the program "Traditional New Year Gathering of Laos and Cambodia and the Cultural Festival of Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Friendship in 2024" to demonstrate the attention of the Party Committee, Government, and People of Dong Nai Province to Lao students studying in the province.
In his speech at the reception, Ambassador Khamphao Eunthavanh, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam, expressed gratitude to the provincial leaders for their warm welcome and thoughtful arrangements for the delegation. The Ambassador congratulated the province on its achievements in socio-economic development in the past and affirmed that during her tenure as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam, she will become a bridge to promote the deepening of the great traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, as well as promote cooperation in investment, trade, agriculture, and tourism between the two sides.

Acting Chairman of the
Provincial People's Committee affirmed that today's visit and work of the
delegation from the Embassy of Laos in Vietnam in Dong Nai Province demonstrate
the concern of the Ambassador and the diplomatic representatives of Laos for
Dong Nai Province. He expressed the hope that the friendly cooperation
relationship between Dong Nai Province and the localities of Laos will be
further strengthened and tightened in the coming time. The Acting Chairman also
mentioned that he will introduce a number of domestic and FDI enterprises in
the province to explore investment opportunities in Laos.
